During the 2017 ADA convention in Atlanta, Sharon Kantor Bogetz attended a 3 hour OSHA update.  Lots of new information, but some things stayed the same.

In review, the dental office should use Standard Precautions:

  • Hand Hygiene
  • PPE
  • Respiratory hygiene / cough etiquette – NEW
  • Sharps safety
  • Safe injections – NEW
  • Instrument, device sterilization
  • Environmental aespsis cleaning, disinfection, barriers

Written protocal shall be developed, maintained and periodically updated for proper instrument processing, operatory cleanliness and management of injuries.
